Lychee Legacy has been building its studio for three years. In that time, our porcelain collection has grown to more than 7,000 SKUs. It is a number that reflects variety, but it also reflects time: ideas developed, colours tested, shapes adjusted and details reconsidered.
Behind this growing collection is a team of more than 40 young people with backgrounds in art and visual design. Based in Jingdezhen, we work with porcelain every day, looking closely at form, surface and colour. Some ideas begin with a silhouette. Others begin with a colour combination, a small decorative detail or a particular way a piece might be used.
The aim is not to make every piece look the same. It is to give customers, designers and buyers a wider set of starting points when they are looking for porcelain with character.
A collection built through testing and iteration
Porcelain has a way of changing an idea as it moves from a first sketch to a finished piece. A colour that looks right before firing may soften, deepen or shift in the kiln. A handle may need a small adjustment to feel balanced. A pattern may need to be simplified so that it works naturally on a curved surface.
For that reason, our catalogue grows through repeated testing, handmaking and firing. The work includes trying colour recipes, reviewing proportions and returning to a design when there is room to make it clearer or more useful.
This process gives each collection its own point of view. Some pieces are playful and full of colour. Some are quieter, focused on line, texture or a familiar everyday form. Together, they create a catalogue with room for different tastes and different spaces.
Variety needs a point of view
More than seven thousand SKUs does not mean more than seven thousand unrelated objects. Across the collection, we keep returning to the same questions: Does the form feel considered? Does the colour have energy? Can the details make an ordinary moment feel more personal?
These questions help us make choices across many different product types. They also help us explore new directions without losing the human, handmade quality that brings people to porcelain in the first place.
Starting points for custom work
Our existing collection can also be a useful starting point for custom pieces. A client may begin with a preferred form, colour family or decorative mood, then work with us to explore how it could develop for a project, a shop, a hotel or a special collection.
We believe that a large collection should make it easier to find a direction, not harder. Whether someone is drawn to expressive colour, a distinctive pattern or a simple shape, every new conversation can begin with an idea worth testing.
